The AMBOSS Lookup Expert gives agents access to clinical explanations, decision algorithms, and medical visuals from AMBOSS. It’s designed to support clinicians who need fast clarification in the moment—especially in high-variation workflows like inpatient medicine, emergency care, or complex diagnostics.

This Expert is ideal for agents that help clinicians double-check the reasoning behind an action, explain a differential diagnosis, or revisit protocol logic. It supports learning as well as doing, making it a valuable layer in both bedside and educational tools.

How it works

The Expert queries AMBOSS’s structured medical content to answer questions about conditions, clinical algorithms, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. When invoked, it returns focused, authoritative responses that are easily embedded into assistant interfaces or inline documentation flows.

It can be triggered manually (e.g., “What’s the diagnostic pathway for PE?”) or programmatically when an agent detects uncertainty, decision branching, or knowledge gaps in conversation

Configure

AMBOSS Lookup requires a valid integration key and active AMBOSS subscription. Once connected, you can control routing behavior in the Governance Layer—choosing when and how the Expert is allowed to respond. It can be scoped to specific specialties, query types, or user roles depending on clinical context.
