Every year, over 400,000 deaths occur in the U.S. as a result of medical error or misdiagnosis. It's an under-discussed issue, and numbers keep rising.

The fault does not lie with our brilliant medics, whom we could not live without, but with the complex nature of medicine and the tremendous lack of innovation in patient engagement technology. 

When we founded Corti in 2016, we made it our mission to decrease these numbers and give medics more time with each patient, using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, making every patient consultation more data-driven. We found initial success in augmenting medical call-takers triaging critical cases during emergency calls. Here we proved that the best emergency service departments in the world could reduce their mistakes by more than 40% on acute issues like out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, just using our AI.

But during our trials, we also found that our AI was doing more than just spitting out numbers. It formed a bond to the medical decision-maker, a bond that could go far beyond emergency calls. Together, the human decision-maker and the AI assistant were far better than anyone of them on their own. As a partnership, they can find patterns, decipher ambiguity, and make decisions faster and more accurately than humanly possible. 

Meet Audia. 

Out of this process, Audia was born. Audia is our peer-reviewed medical assistant powered by artificial intelligence, trained on millions of patient consultations to provide better and faster medical care. Audia is explicitly built for patient consultation complexities, making it much more relevant than other voice-assistants, such as Siri or Alexa. 

Audia can be integrated into any device, video, chat, or telephone solution. Here, it can either be the concierge that takes notes, analyze what's said and shared, and fills our quality assurance report. During a patient consultation, Audia compares the ongoing consultation to more than seven million historical patient consultations it has already learned from. This allows Audia to make a staggering amount of calculations, as it's able to compare every piece of information to millions of other data points to help the medical decision-maker come to the right conclusion.
